Ecobox

EcoBox is born: a new frontier in air purification

Fascinated by the fact that polluted air, when in contact with materials containing titanium dioxide nanoparticles, can be purified, Global Engineering designed a system capable of capturing polluted air and, after photocatalytic treatment, returning sanitized air.

EcoBox consists of a container that houses a honeycomb network of internal walls, entirely treated with EcoRivestimento. Inside the unit, UV irradiation lamps activate the photocatalytic process. The box features an inlet for polluted air and an outlet for purified air. Two fans, positioned at the inlet and outlet, regulate the airflow, which is drawn in, forced through the honeycomb structure and expelled once purified.

Polluted air purification

At the BioMassa facility in Muggiano, owned by AMSA (Municipality of Milan), Global Engineering carried out the first European test of polluted air purification, involving the treatment of indoor polluted air and the release of purified air into the atmosphere. The polluted air emission ducts from the composting facilities in Muggiano were connected to the EcoBox inlet, while the outlet air from the EcoBox was captured and analyzed.

The PCA Technology Institute, in agreement with the University of Milan, conducted the measurements. The reports certify that the air exiting the EcoBox after treatment is free from odorous pollutants, nitrogen oxides, aromatic gases and pollutants commonly referred to as VOCs.
The EcoBox system has been patented and the trademark registered.

Numerous application fields

Tests carried out demonstrate the feasibility of:

  • systems for the treatment of refrigerated air in industrial environments
  • sanitization systems for polluted indoor environments and facilities
  • air recirculation purification systems
  • consumer-scale systems for residential buildings
